Peabody Elementary

Dallas ISD

George Peabody was an aged, urban neighborhood Elementary School in need of replacement. Working with a neighborhood visioning team, the design team developed a concept that connects the occupants to nature by blurring the threshold between the interior and exterior environment. Walls of glass create open, light-filled educational environments that put learning on display and expand the classroom into collaboration spaces where students and teachers can explore alternate learning and teaching methods. The two-story design is intentionally subdued to blend the two-story structure into its single-story neighborhood and provides adequate stacking to keep cars off neighborhood streets.
