Del Valle ISD

In 2019, Del Valle ISD hired Pfluger Architects to design one elementary school plan to replace two aging, occupied campus buildings at Smith and Hornsby-Dunlap Elementary Schools. Del Valle ISD strives to provide equitable educational spaces for all their students, a challenge in an area growing fast. With several newer elementary campuses, it was critical to address those that were aging. The result is a one-story plan focused on educating 21st-century students. Careful attention was paid to the outdoor spaces, ensuring shaded areas, secure perimeters, and long-lasting play surfaces. Inside, natural light, color, and texture provide engaging spaces for young learners.
