Clarence W. Norris Building

Alamo Colleges, St. Phillips College

From the bones of a 50-year old structure, Pfluger worked with St. Philip’s College on an exciting transformation for the Norris Technical Center. The building is home to the Tutoring and Technology Center and serves multiple departments with a variety of classroom types, meeting rooms, offices and support spaces. Integrating flexibility was a vital element of the design, as was incorporating new MEP and IT systems.

A newly designed entrance connects to the campus’ central core. The new entry includes a lobby with gathering areas, reconfigured stairs, and an elevator to meet accessibility code requirements. To honor the building’s past, the lobby includes a replica exhibit of Dr. Norris’s office to display part of the campus’ heritage.
