Woodland Acres Elementary

Working together with Smith & Company, Pfluger designed the site development plan for the replacement of Woodland Acres Elementary School, on 4.5 acres that was behind the existing elementary school. The two-story, 500-student elementary school was strategically placed on the site to maximize the playground and parking/drives on opposite sides of the school for safety and accommodates on-site bus pickup/drop-off. 

 This new school is nestled into the woods of the site and has a lodge-like feel on the exterior with similar characteristics carried through the interior design. Each grade level of classrooms is clustered around a collaborative breakout area that provides opportunities for small group interaction or individual instruction. All the classrooms open with large expanses of glass to the heavily wooded forest.
