Del Valle ISD and Pfluger Architects, with American Constructors, celebrated the groundbreaking for a second district high school. The new campus will help relieve overcrowding at the existing high school, which is operating 800 students beyond its intended capacity.
Pfluger Architects collaborated with district officials, campus administrators, and the local community to shape the new school’s design which will feature a welcoming facade and outdoor learning environments.
Jessica Molter, managing principal of Pfluger’s Austin office, expressed the firm’s commitment to sustainability by including design elements that reflect the eco-conscious ethos of the Whisper Valley community.
“Not only will this campus operate significantly more efficiently,” said Molter, “but the community’s goals for academic achievement and personal growth will be reflected in the design.”
Slated for completion in August 2026, the new Del Valle High School #2 promises to offer diverse educational space types for incoming freshmen and sophomores and become a cornerstone for the community by providing opportunities and experiences for future students.
