Teacher Appreciation Week: Educators Who Shaped Us

Behind every successful individual is probably a teacher who believed in them. This Teacher Appreciation Week, we’re celebrating the impactful educators whose lessons last a lifetime. Meet the educators who’ve shaped our team. Each one has left a mark that goes way beyond their classrooms, and we’re still feeling grateful.

WILLIAM WEBB
Dr. Guizar, University Autonomous University Mexico (UNAM)

” I had the incredible opportunity to study architecture at the University in Campus Ciudad Universitaria, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Dr. Guizar’s passion for teaching profoundly influenced my education. His impact extended well beyond the classroom, touching the lives of thousands of students throughout the years. I still keep in touch with Dr. Guizar, who was recently recognized for his 40 years of teaching.”

DIEDRA SHAW
Mrs. St. Germain, Herod Elementary

“When my son moved from Montessori to public school, we noticed a dramatic change—he started reading and writing almost overnight! It was Mrs. St. Germain’s first year teaching there, and her unique approach made a huge difference. She was named Teacher of the Year, then moved to Fort Bend ISD where she started a new Pre-K program and won the title again. Now, she’s even running for mayor of Meadows Place! We’re so grateful for her impact and still keep in touch. Fun fact: her husband works at the same school as the elementary coach. We adore them both!”

HEATHER RULE
Mr. Dave McCann, Colegio Americano de Quito

“I was switching from learning math in Spanish to learning it in English. You would think math is the same in any language, but I quickly learned that this was not the case. Mr. McCann taught project-based learning which allowed me to ask questions since we all worked independently after an initial segment introduction, which back is the 90’s was unique! What could have been the worst year in a subject became the year I developed a love for math, all because I had an amazing teacher.”

JAZMIN MENDEZ
Luisa Soledad, Escuela Gabriela Mistral

“My mother’s unwavering dedication as a teacher in a small, low-income school in South America is truly inspiring. She goes above and beyond to support her students in every way possible, even taking some of them into our home when they have nowhere else to turn. For many of these kids, the highlight of their day is going to school to be with her. She provides a safe and nurturing environment that allows her students to thrive and grow. Her selflessness and compassion make her the best teacher I have ever known.”
